Techdirt has the latest on the class action lawsuit against AOL. When AOL released the personal records of search history from over 500,000 people, the nation wasn’t very happy. So in the end result of this class action, AOL is being fined $1,000 per person or $5,000 per person if that resident is from California. Google should be taking notes to never let this happen — as I expect Google has taken precautions from the start for this.
