Does Google plan to charge for maps in the future. I added a Google map to a website for a client I was working on. When looking for a map to use I looked into using mapquest. They wanted $5,000 a year to use a mapquest map on a different url. I really don’t see where that price comes from.

I don’t think that Google will ever charge to use Google Maps, but I do think they will allow for an “advertising” free version that would allow businesses to run their own version of it and have everything specific to their needs. I think it will always be free to the public to use because they can make money on advertising through it.
