Google.org’s For Profit Venture

The NYTimes makes some good points about Google.org.

The philanthropy is consulting with hybrid-engine scientists and automakers, and has arranged for the purchase of a small fleet of cars with plans to convert the engines so that their gas mileage exceeds 100 miles per gallon. The goal of the project is to reduce dependence on oil while alleviating the effects of global warming.

Many people don’t know about this site of Google — even I didn’t — so it’s good to see that there is a non-profit errr profit side of things to the Google Org.

I think I’ve been to their .org site once before, but you’re right in saying ALOT of people don’t know about it.
