Google’s recently purchased Writely software has opened up shop for new accounts.

With this new web application online and available, there no doubt in the industry that Google will be releasing another application very similiar to powerpoint. Personally, I don’t doubt for a second that Google will soon be competing against Microsoft in the Office battle. Google can and will provide these products for free. Why can they? Because they aren’t evil. Google is all about open source and sharing. Maybe that’s why their stock price right now is almost 10x that of what Microsoft’s is.

Writely might be on \”the right path\” for trivial word-processing but it doesn\’t come close to making the grade for WYSIWYG blog editing.

I think there is still much work to be done, but they are definitely making progress with their “office” competitor software.
